Camping Amsterdam Gaasper

The recreation area Gaasperplas, an area measuring 166 hectares, consists of a large lake, many ornamental gardens, playgrounds and lounge areas. The northern part, where the campsite is situated, was constructed in 1982 to host Floriade, the International Horticultural Exhibition. The broad lanes, remarkable vegetation, rose garden, dune landscape and osier plantations are its wonderful legacy.

You can easily spend a day in this area, leaving the hustle and bustle of the city behind you. Around the lake are broad footpaths, cycle paths and bridleways. There is also a swimming area, water playground, surf shore and underwater sports shore. Barbecue sites can be found in various locations

A 6 km (3.7-mile) bike ride away is the picturesque village of Weesp with its old city centre, where many events are held in the summer months.
